I'm Michael King, a financial strategist who didn't always speak the language of business finance. My career started as a nuclear engineer on submarines in the U.S. Navy. 

After moving into the business world in 2011, I quickly realized there were so many construction companies with impressive revenues that struggled to use their financial data to make informed decisions. They needed strategic financial leadership, but hiring a top-tier CFO—with salary, benefits, and equity—was crazy expensive.

Determined to solve this gap, I founded Civil CFO. Over the past decade, my team and I have successfully helped 93+ businesses achieve substantial growth, improved margins, and reduced debt through expert CFO guidance—all at a fraction of the cost of hiring a full-time executive.

Meet Michael King, Founder & Fractional CFO

I’m a financial wizard and all-around numbers guy (who used to know absolutely nothing about business finance).

In a past life, I was an engineer for the U.S. Navy.

But because a career as a nuclear engineer on submarines wasn’t quite difficult enough, I decided to dive into the treacherous waters of the business world.

It wasn’t long before I realized that all the smarts in the world wouldn’t help me if I didn’t boost my financial literacy. Even worse, I saw driven professionals just like me suffering because there’s no Rosetta Stone for languages like “Finance” and “Accounting.”

I decided to do something about it.

I made it my mission to help business owners understand their numbers, increase their profits, and make savvy decisions. 10 years, one MBA, and 200+ clients later, I’ve found the perfect formula to help business owners grasp the essentials without paying thousands of dollars for consultants and gurus. I’ve created the KFE Fractional CFO & Executive-Level Financial Coaching system to provide CEOs with a roadmap to strategic growth.
